Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Acne Treatment Description

Jan Marini Skin Research Benzoyl Peroxide 5% and 10% strengths are the medications of choice for treating acne. Benzoyl peroxide is currently recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology as being one of the most effective antibacterial agents available. It is proven to significantly reduce the presence of P acne bacteria (the bacteria believed to play a primary role in the inflammatory aspect of the acne process). Many physicians and researchers believe the benzoyl peroxide, used in combination with glycolic acid, is a potent tool to achieve dramatic clearing of acne lesions and prevent changes within the follicle associated with the acne process.

Jan Marini Skin Research Benzoyl Peroxide is pharmaceutically produced using FDA approved guidelines. By using highly micronized benzoyl peroxide and specialized non-comedogenic emollients, this preparation minimizes dryness and irritation, while providing maximum measurable effectiveness.

Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Acne Treatment Features

  • Medically proven medication that can dramatically assist in clearing acne lesions
  • Effective in minimizing open comedones (blackheads)
  • Aids in preventing the formation of new lesions
  • Benefits are further enhanced when used in conjunction with Bioglycolic home care products
  • Highly micronized formula has a soft emollient consistency
  • Special non-comedogenic moisturizers minimize dryness and irritation

Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Acne Treatment Directions

Begin by applying once daily only, preferably in the evening to affected areas, not just each individual lesion. For example, if the patient has acne on the forehead, the medication should be applied to the entire forehead area. Apply Benzoyl Peroxide after the application of all other products. In other words, if the patient is using Bioglycolic Cream or a combination of other products, the Benzoyl Peroxide should be applied last. Keep away from eye area. Unless the acne is severe, it is generally recommended to begin with the 5% strength in the evening and increase usage to morning as well, if necessary. As skin acclimates, strength may be increased to 10%.

Please note: During the first 1 to 2 weeks of usage, it is not unusual for the patient to experience dryness, flaking and increased irritation. Generally, this period of acclimation is brief and can be reasonably managed by limiting frequency of exposure.
